9. Email Marketing not tracking open/unopen emails

Email marketing extension shows wrong opened/unopened email status count

Issue

Using VTExperts email marketing extension, user can track the opened and unopened emails

But, sometimes it does not reflect the true number of opened and unopened emails

Reason

There can be a number of different reasons behind this issue. But, some of the most common reasons are as following

  1. User test on browser with logged email account. In this case it auto tracks the open. and even if the user did not opened the email still it shows it as opened email

  2. The CRM is locally hosted, in this case CRM does not allow external links to access the CRM and hence the number of open emails is not recorded correctly and a wrong figure of opened/unopened emails is shown in email campaign

  3. Vtiger (or as any other Email Marketing tool) uses image pixels to track "opens" on the email. That pixel is embedded in the email body and is not visible (as it should). Sometimes a firewall/restriction is set up to access the Vtiger. So, when user open that email - Vtiger tracking pixel cannot be reached, therefore the "Opens" do not count.

Solution

To resolve this issue, make sure that firewall allows external links to reach the CRM, only then email marketing campaign can record the correct stats for the email campaign. Even if your CRM is locally hosted still the external links should be able to access your CRM system.
